A woman has told how her car was left a crumbled wreck after being crashed into and shunted into the middle of a busy Oban road before the culprit then made off.
The collision wrote off Anna Gregory’s Honda CRV and neither the culprit or witnesses have come forward.
Anna, who needs her car to visit her ill mum in Appin, desperately needs help so whoever was responsible can be traced.
It was reported to police at the time but she says she has heard nothing back since, despite asking for updates.
The Lorn Healthy Options staff member said: "I need to know who did it so I’m not penalised both in having to pay insurance excess and my premium going up. It wasn’t my fault, I was nowhere near the vehicle when this happened."
Anna’s car, which has been declared a write-off, was parked in a layby on the Bealach-An-Righ where she has kept it for six years without the vehicle coming to any harm. She was alerted to what had happened by a phone call from a neighbour.
She said: "It wasn’t a normal-sized car that did this. It tore into the front wing of my Honda like a tin opener, there was a huge hole left and the tyre was completely buckled.
"Whoever did it would have had to swerve inwards to have hit it. The car was pushed into the middle of the road and other drivers would’ve had to drive round it to pass it. I can’t believe no one saw what happened - but no one has come forward to say who was responsible."
She added: "It’s really rocked me and taken my independence away. My mum lives in Appin and had a fall last year so I need to be able to get to her. I loved my car, it was great for carrying my paddleboard and kayak, and for days out."
Although Anna has the use of a courtesy vehicle for 21 days, once that runs out she will be left with no vehicle at all.
She said: "It’s made me quite scared of driving and parking. Thank goodness I wasn’t in it at the time."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware around 1pm on Wednesday, 31 January of a parked vehicle damaged by another vehicle which did not stop at the scene on Dunollie Road in Oban.
“No one was injured. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 1690 of 31 January.”
