Members of Mid Argyll RFC’s committee, Jim Hill, Drew Buckley, Stuart Charnock and Lee Buckley travelled to Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Friday March 21 to accept the Glasgow North Community Club of the Year Award.
The Scottish Rugby Community Recognition Award was presented to club secretary Lee Buckley by Scotland Legend and all-time leading points scorer Chris Paterson.
Mid Argyll has worked hard over the last decade to improve player numbers and now has 30-plus micros and minis which are a great mix of both boys and girls.
This season U14 & U16 boys’ and girls’ teams and men’s and women’s senior teams have also taken to the field for the club.
The new men’s strip was also on display at Murrayfield for the awards ceremony where some 36 unsung heroes were celebrated for their contribution to their local club’s successes over the past year.
Lee said: "The award is fantastic recognition for everyone who dedicates so much time and effort into making the club a welcoming and enjoyable place to be. Well done everyone."
The award ceremony was part of wider centenary celebrations commemorating the first game Scotland ever played at Murrayfield when they beat England 14-11 and ensured their first ever grand slam.
It was an amazing experience to be part of the event, and the club would like to thank Scottish Rugby for making the day so memorable.
