Plans have been revealed for an Oban town centre premises to become a takeaway.
The proposal for the premises at 98 George Street has been submitted to Argyll and Bute Council by JVIC Ltd.
Separate applications for planning permission and listed building consent have been lodged, with council officials expected to rule by early March.
Members of the public can now submit feedback to the authority.
A supporting statement by planning agents Bruce and Neil Chartered Architects said: “These applications seek approval for change of use of the premises forming number 98 to create a hot food takeaway.
“The rear area in the east extension will be reformed as a kitchen with associated food storage, preparation and cooking facilities.
“The front area accessed from George Street will comprise the customer servery area to display and sell hot and cold food and beverages primarily prepared in the kitchen area to the rear.
“A seated customer waiting area will be provided as shown on the floor plan. However, this will provide facilities only for customers awaiting preparation of their food order to be eaten off the premises and will not constitute a sit-in eating area.”
The statement added: “Externally, no alterations will be made to the George Street frontage, with existing (presumed original) windows and doors being retained.
“Renewed signage will be by way of a painted shopfront with laser cut, flush mounted metal lettering and vinyl decals to the upper windows as shown on the application drawings. No protruding or illuminated signage is proposed.
“The east elevation will incorporate a flush, wall mounted grille outlet from the extract ventilation hood over the cooking appliances in accordance with the recommendations received from the council’s environmental health officer.
“Given the restricted range of cooking anticipated for the function of the unit and the limited cooking facilities involved, this will be a relatively small extract discharging through the wall without the need for any roof mounted cowls or outlets.
“With the length of the east extension, it is considered that the size and location of this outlet is sufficiently distant from the east elevation of the main building to avoid any noise or smell nuisance to neighbouring properties.”
