Interim Ferguson Marine chief executive officer John Petticrew has described the completed sea trials of MV Glen Sannox as an ‘overall success’.
In an update to Edward Mountain, convenor of the Net Zero, Energy and Transport Committee at the Scottish Parliament, Mr Petticrew confirmed the sea trials were completed on Thursday October 10, following a short pause after the vessel experienced issues with the fire detection system.
Mr Petticrew said: “Following our interim update on October 3, we are writing to provide you with the latest information regarding the progress of the MV Glen Sannox.
“Acceptance sea trials resumed on Tuesday October 8 and were successfully completed on Thursday October 10.
“These trials included testing of the steering gear, manoeuvring, speed, stopping, thrusters, noise
and vibration, unmanned machinery space and endurance. We are pleased to report the trials
were an overall success.
“Additionally, we have fully resolved the setup of the fire and gas detection system. Two successful LNG bunkerings were also carried out and the LNG tank level alarms were tested and approved on Saturday.”
The handover of the vessel to its new owners was meant to take place on Monday October 14, however, the vessel is undergoing further work and Mr Petticrew said a definitive handover date will be announced as soon as soon as it is confirmed.
