Tarbert Castle Trust volunteers celebrated a milestone moment at this month’s work party in the grounds of the Mid Argyll castle.
The long set of wooden steps by the castle were finally finished - and all agree they look the part.
A spokesperson for the trustees said: "It was a mammoth task to get all the wood up there and the steps built on site.
"The sides with the tread supports, were made off site by Duncan MacGregor joiners; then the volunteers concreted in the support posts, and cut and assembled the platforms, treads, and handrails.
"Before all this could happen of course, measurements had to be taken, the plans drawn up, the wood ordered etc.
"It was a tremendous team effort and enormous thanks are due to everyone involved."
The work is not finished yet however as now that the long set of steps are finally open to the public again, the third and final set can be replaced.
They have been shut to the public and will be removed and replaced over the next few weeks. In the meantime, the long set will provide an alternative route up to the castle keep.
The spokesperson added: "Our grateful thanks must also go to the Cour wind farm which provided the necessary funds.
"The community orchard is looking lovely at the moment with the fruit trees in blossom. Various tasks were carried out there at the work party including clearing brambles, strimming and handpicking caterpillars off the gooseberry bushes."
