Iain MacKinnon has been announced as the new chairperson of Oban Hospice Ltd.
At hospice AGM on Wednesday September 4, Iain was ‘delighted’ to be chosen as the new chairperson.
Iain has been involved with Oban Hospice Ltd for less than a year after retiring from his job last year.
Iain worked with Argyll and Bute Council for 45 years, specialising in Environmental Health for the last 20 years.
The role saw him deal with many different people and make many contacts outside the council, and he also chaired various meetings and committees throughout his time.
Iain is a familiar face in Oban due to his work with the council, but also through the Coastguard Rescue Service, The Rotary Club of Oban and Oban Winter Festival.
Iain said: “I am delighted to have been asked to be the chairperson. When it was announced it was a really nice warm feeling, people are very supportive and congratulating!
“I’m hoping to use my past experience and bring my knowledge to help progress the Dove Centre. David left everything in a really good state, so I’m hoping to build on that. They have all put their faith and confidence in me, so I will certainly be trying to justify that!”
