Sight loss charity British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF) is looking for two volunteers in the Oban area to assist with packing and posting audio devices to blind and partially sighted people across the UK.
The search for helpers comes after BWBF recently opened a distribution hub in Oban’s Rockfield Centre.
BWBF gives easy-to-use audio devices for free to people with sight loss in the greatest financial need, providing connection, companionship and comfort to thousands across the UK.
Volunteering with the charity is an opportunity to help unlock a world of audio content for people living with sight loss.
The new Oban distribution hub provides a base from which the charity sends out its range of audio equipment, including specially adapted radios, Alexa devices, USB players and audio devices for children.
The charity is looking for two volunteers who can commit to a few hours’ volunteering each week, are reliable and have good attention to detail, and can manage some heavy lifting when handling equipment
Steven Poole, Service Delivery Manager at BWBF, said: “Easy access to audio keeps people living with sight loss connected with their passions, their communities and their loved ones.
"Volunteers are at the heart of what we do, and this role is a great way to support people across the UK from right here in Oban. If you have some spare time and you want to use it in a meaningful and life-changing way, we’d love to hear from you.”
If you’re interested in volunteering with BWBF, please contact Steven Poole, Service Delivery Manager for BWBF, on steven@blind.org.uk or by calling 07969 038084.
