The announcement, which came into effect at the start of the week, will see visiting return to pre-pandemic access levels with no requirement for lateral flow tests, although, masks will still be required in all hospital settings.
Visitors are once again welcome between the hours of 8am and 10pm, seven days a week.
Children are also welcome, but those under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Visitors are encouraged to stay for no longer than an hour and are advised to avoid meal times and other busy periods, such as early mornings.
Hospital dining rooms, which were closed during the pandemic, will also reopen and face masks must be worn when entering the dining room, queuing, ordering and paying for food, and when leaving a table.
Jennifer Wilson, nurse director, says: ‘After significant visiting restrictions over the last two years, it is wonderful to now be at a point where we can introduce our new person centred approach.
'We recognise the hugely important part family and friends can play in a patient’s healthcare journey and recovery.
'We believe that visiting should be considered a central part of patient care and that visits should be at a time that is convenient to both the patient and the visitor.
‘We look forward to welcoming more visitors to our sites and want them to know that they are very welcome. If visitors and staff can work together with respect and kindness this will ensure the best visiting experience for everyone.’
Visitors are still expected to follow safety measures and avoid visiting if you are feeling unwell or have symptoms of Covid.
Visiting may be restricted if there are Covid outbreaks or where temporary special restrictions have been imposed.
