Worried this Winter?
According to the latest Scottish Government YouGov research, almost half of those polled in the West of
Scotland are concerned about energy and fuel prices in the year ahead, and more than one third are
concerned about their household finances. One in every two polled feel there is no easing on the cost of living. One in three has used savings to help manage household finances.
One in five have borrowed money on credit or used a credit card in the last 3 months to support regular household expenditure which they have still to pay back in full or part. Most worryingly, close to half, say they would feel embarrassed to seek help.
Local CAB Manager, Jen Broadhurst wants to say to anyone feeling that way,
“People may feel embarrassed to ask or help or possibly think others need help more than they do, so they muddle on. For anyone who is finding it difficult to seek help, this just goes to show, you’re definitely not
alone, but the local CAB’s team of advisers are here to provide completely confidential, impartial and free advice.
Making that first contact can be a big step; we really understand that, but you have my assurance, when you contact the local CAB, you will always be met with a friendly, understanding member of the team who won’t judge, just listen, and then do all that they can to get you the advice and support needed, whatever your situation”.
