Again CalMac have withdrawn the service from Ardrossan to Campbeltown, with the usual lame excuses of broken down ferries, delays in repairs, annual refits and delays in supply of new vessels from shipbuilders.
It is true residents have other means of transport to get to other parts of the country, and islanders rely on the ferries.
I feel for John Armour and his colleagues who fought hard to get this service, which I feel should be more than seasonal.
Do the management not realise that this service is beneficial to the economy of the area and other benefits it brings?
The life span of ferries is meant to be early 30s, then withdrawn; MV Isle of Arran is 40 plus and still going.
The management at CalMac should take a look at themselves instead of blaming things and others, and concentrate in providing a service to be proud of, unlike the present.

I write regarding the parking situation in Campbeltown town centre.
With the recent addition of a new traffic warden, I think a lot of people expected it would make parking easier, and perhaps it has for people just wanting a quick stop on Main Street, but for those of us who work in the town centre, there simply isn’t enough parking.
With less spaces in Burnside Square since the new layout and the pier being closed for works, it really does make finding an all-day parking space very, very difficult.
For a long time now, cars have been parking on both sides of Longrow South, without any bother at all, other than when people park too close to the junction on the double yellow lines.
Surely at least one side of Longrow South, if not both, could be used for parking, maybe even all-day type parking, now that it is one-way only? It seems like a waste of very much-needed space to me.
I really do feel the lack of parking in town is something that needs urgently addressed to keep our town centre workers, shoppers and visitors happy.
