Kenny Wilson from Gigha was so touched by the kindness of the creel fishermen who came to his and others’ rescue after they were left stranded when the ferry broke down that he felt compelled to thank them through the Courier’s news pages.
The fact that the fishermen were unknown to those they helped made their gesture all the more sincere and altruistic.
Their actions, at the end of their own working day, saved a lot of hassle and potential expense for those they helped.
Actor Morgan Freeman once said: “How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time.”
This sentiment is very true – while the fishermen’s gesture might not change the world, it made a huge difference to those they helped.
It is exactly this kind of positivity that should be praised and shared far and wide to hopefully inspire others to carry out acts of kindness, no matter how big or small.
If anyone knows the identities of thoughtful fishermen, please get in touch.
If you know of other similar stories about people going out their way or above and beyond to help others, please let us know so we can share their stories too.
