A good turnout of 16 competitors took to the carpets at Stronvaar on Wednesday March 12 for Campbeltown Bowling Club’s ladies’ open singles, sponsored by Dalziel Decorating.
Good bowls were played by all, including the club’s oldest lady member, Janet Rankin Hall, who is 90 years young.
The semi-finals saw Catherine McEachran take on Jean Miller, and Maureen McInnes up against Ann Muir, with Catherine and Maureen progressing to the final.
Maureen got off to a good start, being up 6-2, but Catherine pulled it back to 6-6 going into the last end.
After three bowls each, Maureen was lying game. Catherine played a great last bowl to move the jack and lie three, but Maureen played an outstanding last bowl to chap and lie shot, and take the trophy.
Club president Archie Johnston thanked Bobby Dalziel from Dalziel Decorating for his continued sponsorship and George Reid for his now traditional supply of daffodils.
