The match kicked off with an early lead for the hosts who crossed the line for the first try. However, Lochaber responded in sensational fashion. Quick hands and a brilliant solo effort saw Ella Gair race down the field, breaking tackles and scoring a remarkable try, leveling the score at 5-5.
Garioch came back fighting but with Lochaber applying tremendous pressure it eventually led to a penalty. Emily Brown stepped up with a superb kick to take the lead for Lochaber.
Following this high Carla Berardelli dodged Gariochs defence with a fantastic run leading to another try, putting Lochaber 5-13 ahead.
Garioch finished the first half with a try and a successful conversion making the score 12-13 in Lochaber’s favour as the teams headed into the break.
As the second half began, Garioch’s superior squad numbers showed. With fresh legs on the field, they capitalized on the extra numbers, adding three tries to their tally.
Despite a strong and committed effort from Lochaber, they struggled with injuries which forced them down to 14 players. The team had to adapt and make several positional changes, but their resilience remained unwavering.
Lochaber’s spirits were lifted when Anna Berardelli battled her way over the try line after a spectacular team effort, closing the gap to 31-18. However, Garioch quickly retaliated with another try and conversion to further extend their lead.
Lochaber wasn’t finished though. Ella, with incredible strength, burst through the home defence and raced down the pitch to score another try. Garioch responded with one final try before the game was called five minutes early due to further injuries on the pitch.
