It was the magnificent seven for Fort William Football Club as Thurso were vanquished in a comprehensive victory which moved the home side to third, writes Peter Newman.
Fort William were looking for a strong response after their defeat the week before against league leaders Loch Ness.
Here, it took less than ten minutes for bustling midfielder Finlay MacDonald to get the Claggan Park side back on track, his goal the icing on what was to become a man of the match performance.
Further finishes were buried by Andrew Sneddon, Lewis Moran and Lerlah Hay in the first half to see the hosts well ahead at the interval.
In the second half, Thurso showed fortitude and lasted until the 73rd minute without conceding.
However, first super-sub Davie Neil broke the resistance, then Ross Peters and Martin Munro put the visitors to the sword to leave them reeling at 7-0.
Manager Alan Gray said: “I was delighted to see such a positive response from the lads after last week’s disappointing result. Finlay MacDonald nabbed himself the man of the match award having found himself on the bench in recent weeks. He seemed to be everywhere. Before the game, we asked for three points and a clean sheet and that’s exactly what they gave us.
"I felt Kieran Lopez, Farquhar MacRae and Lewis Moran, along with debutant Barry Black, were superb across the backline and this gave us a platform from which to mount attacks. Kit Fletcher behind them in goals had two great saves too to secure the clean sheet.
“We have Halkirk away next week and need to take the way we played today into that game, particularly defensively. They are the best team to have come to Claggan Park so far this season so we will be expecting a tough game.”
