Mid Argyll RFC Ladies 59 Lasswade 29
Women’s National Bowl
Mid Argyll RFC Ladies were in action again on Sunday March 23 when they hosted Lasswade RFC at the Ropework in Lochgilphead in the Women’s National Bowl competition.
The ladies were looking to build on the previous two games and were hoping for their first competitive 15-a-side win.
The game started at a ferocious speed with both teams playing great rugby.
Lasswade scored first and maintained that lead into half time. Tries from Mid Argyll brought the score to 12-22 at the break.
A demanding team talk was given by the coaches and this fired the Ladies up for what proved to be the best half of rugby they have played all season.
Changes were made to add some energy and before long Mid Argyll had taken the lead.
Anya Gritten took to the field and soon had a hat-trick of tries to her name with one from Simone Charnock in-between.
Iona Campbell’s kicking was immaculate, and this kept the score board ticking over.
When the final whistle came Mid Argyll had triumphed 59-29. It was an amazing result and unbelievable effort from the players and coaching team.
Simone Charnock was the Fyne Ales player of the Match with an outstanding performance at fly half.
Next weekend the Ladies travel to Berwick for their final game of the season and hope to end a successful year with another win.
