Mowi Premiership
Lovat 1 Fort William 3
Just a matter of months after being promoted from the Mowi National Division as champions, Fort William sit top of the Mowi Premiership following their win over Lovat at Balgate.
Keeper Paul MacKay gave the Fort a boost by returning in goal just nine days after suffering a cut hand.
Lovat took a deserved interval lead with Lewis Tawse netting just a couple of minutes short of the break.
However, it was a different Fort William which took the field in the second half, and Hamish Shaw equalised on the hour.
Victor Smith put the Fort in front on 67 minutes, scoring for the fifth time this season, and when referee Des McNulty awarded the visitors a penalty with eight minutes remaining, Lachie Shaw made no mistake from the spot to also bank his fifth goal of the campaign.
Fort William co-manager Alan Knox said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the win.
“We struggled to get going in the first half and had to make a few changes at half-time. After that, I thought we were in control.
“Keeper Paul Mackay gave us a late boost by saying he could play, and he kept us in it with a good save just before half-time, keeping it at 1-0.
“We’re obviously happy with the score in Newtonmore but we’ll just continue to take it one game at a time.”
Next up for Fort William is a trip to third placed Oban Camanachd in the Mowi Premiership on Saturday.

Lochaber veteran Shaun Nicolson grabbed what proved to be the winner a minute after the hour.
Lochaber manager Ally Ferguson said: “It was a closely fought game.
“We’ve had 5-7 players missing from our squad for a variety of reasons over the last two weeks and it shows to be fair.
“But we did well to grind out the result to get the two points against Inveraray and that’s what matters.
“We introduced 16-year-old Ross Loughry, and he came on and did well whilst Gregor Cameron was the referee’s choice as man of the match. Max Campbell was a stand-out in defence for us.
“We get a break this weekend which will help with the lads who are carrying injuries.”
