Campbeltown competitors embrace Hyrox challenge

The structured classes, designed by Mairi and Beth, help participants develop the strength and stamina required for this demanding event.

Their efforts paid off in spectacular fashion as 26 members of MACC Gym and Mairi’s personal training clients successfully completed the recent Glasgow Hyrox competition.

Hyrox bills itself as “the fitness race for everybody”, combining running with other exercises. 

Competitors complete eight rounds of a 1km run, each followed by a challenging workout: a 1km SkiErg, a 50m sled push, a 50m sled pull, 80m burpee broad jumps, a 1km row, a 200m farmer’s carry, 100m walking lunges, and 100 wall balls. 

With solo, pairs, and relay options available, the event welcomes participants of all fitness levels and ages 16 and over.

The recent Glasgow Hyrox event was a massive success, drawing an impressive 17,000 participants over four action-packed days.

Reflecting on her team’s achievements, Mairi said: “Everyone who completed the race did incredibly well. 

“The sense of camaraderie within our group has been outstanding – members cheered each other on, stayed to support their training partners, and truly embodied the spirit of teamwork. 

“Training together not only builds fitness but also forges lasting friendships. We’ve created something really special.”

With Hyrox continuing to grow in popularity, MACC Gym and its dedicated community are proving that fitness is about more than just physical strength – it is about perseverance, teamwork, and shared success.
