On a beautiful spring day last Saturday, 20 past captains and lady captains of Dunaverty Golf Club took to a course in great condition for the time of year thanks to the hard work of greenkeepers Jonathan Barbour and Campbell MacBrayne.
The sun shone and there was very little wind, with a number of competitors playing in T-shirts. The Texas Scramble pairs format proved to be very popular, with all groups thoroughly enjoying their round and the chatter continued into the clubhouse afterwards for the prize-giving with a fantastic ‘Dunaverty’ atmosphere on show for everyone to witness.
The winners on the day were Alex Arkell and Mairi MacMillan who produced some superb golf between them to take the trophy.
The two nearest the pins at the 16th were won by Alex Arkell for the gents and Margaret MacFarlane for the ladies.
A club spokesperson said: “We would like to give a special mention to The Putt Stop staff who continue to deliver fantastic food and a professional service to all who use the clubhouse – we are so lucky to have you, Moyra.”
Result: 1 Alex Arkell and Mairi MacMillan 63-6.0=57.0, 2 David MacBrayne and Denise Fawcett 68-7.6=60.4, 3 Donald Brown (Southend) and Mary McKinnon 69-7.2=61.8
“All at the club are looking forward to another successful golfing 2025 and can’t wait to welcome previous and new visitors at the course this year,” added the spokesperson.
“A reminder that The Putt Stop and clubhouse are open to non-members for food but booking is advised as they are very busy.”
